Joyce Ann Mason

Joyce Ann Mason was called home from this life to one eternal on

Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Joyce was born August 3, 1946 to the late Preston and Cora Gray.

She was born in Pisgah, MD and attended public schools in Charles

County, Maryland. She graduated from Pomonkey High School and

was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Washington, DC. Joyce,

lovably known as "Shorts" by her grandchildren, had a career at

Woody's department store, where she later retired. She enjoyed

spending time with her loving husband, Luther, going on summer

drives to Colonial Beach with her grandchildren, Andrew, Tasha, and

Keisha, spending time with her sisters, and spoiling her dearest dog, Loco.

She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a devoted wife.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Cora Gray,

sisters, Ann, Gennieve Gray, Agnes Johnson, Florence Hamn, and

Dorothy Swann, as well as niece Lorraine "Piney" Gray, who she was

raised as sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, John Luther

Mason, and loving daughter, Kia (Kitty); son-in-law, Kevin Moreland,

grandchildren, Andrew Mason, LaTasha Moreland and LaKeisha

Moreland; great-grandchildren, Sahara Mason, Sani Mason, and

Aunestie Mason and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other family.

Also surviving, sisters Laverne "Bunny" Brown (Aaron), and Hazel

Briscoe.
