

transitioned on the evening of September 9, 2019, surrounded by her family. She
was preceded in death by her parents, the late Clarence and Mildred Mitchell, her
late husband Lloyd Moore, her brothers Clarence Mitchell Jr. and Clinton Mitchell,
and her sister Doris Ball.
Joyce moved from Kilmarnock, VA to Washington, DC in 1972, where she
completed her education and began her career. Joyce worked at the Federal Trade
Commission, where she received numerous achievement awards until her
retirement in January 2009, after 35 years of dedicated government service.
Joyce was a member of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Camp Springs, MD where she
attended regularly until her illness prevented her from doing so. Joyce was a
smart, kind, dedicated, beautiful, compassionate woman and an amazing cook.
Her peach cobbler is a crowd favorite. Her favorite hobbies included cooking,
traveling, going to the movies, watching movies and most of all, spending time
with her family.
She leaves to cherish fond and everlasting memories three sons : Kenneth Corsey
Sr. (Carla) of Bowie, MD; Corey Corsey Sr. (LaShawn) of District Heights, MD;
Brandon Moore of Bowie, MD; Six grandchildren : Kyler (Cemone), Corey Jr.,
Kenneth Jr., Keniece, Qua’Shawn, Mateo; Four great-grandchildren; Khloe, Kody,
Cree, Kingston; Eight brothers; Thurman, Aubrey, Harold, Quentin(Diane), Carlton
(Teresita), Clyde (Patricia), Sammy (Brenda), James; Her sister Edith; A lifelong
best friend/sister Dorothy Mitchell, a dear friend Larry “Butch” Lee and a host of
many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
