Judy Ann Hamilton

February 4, 1963 – July 11, 2020
Obituary of Judy Ann Hamilton
IN THE CARE OF

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

Judy Ann Hamilton was born on Febuaury 4, 1963 to the late Aileen Evans in Rutherfordton, NC. She departed this life on July 11, 2020 due to complications from surgery after being diagnosed with a brain AVM.

Judy moved from North Carolina to New York at an early age, and then to Washington, DC at the age of 12, where she would call home for the rest of her life. After high school she received training as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and was a wonderful caregiver. That was only the beginning in a life of service to others as she also studied Early Childhood Education at The Catholic Uniersity of America.

From age 18 until recently she worked as a CNA in nursing facilities taking care of the elderly. In 1999, she began working as a teacher for DCPS at Shaed Elementary School. She loved every minute of it, well almost every minute of it, of the time she spent with those children. She even kept in contact with a few of her students throughout the years, that's how much she loved "her" children as she referred to them. She always said they were her babies while they were in her care.

In 2016 she retired from teaching, but she wasn't finished in her mission to continue to care for those she felt needed care, because as we all know, that's what she did best was care for people. She worked as a school bus attendant for a few years for DCPS and also worked with the mentally handicapped for a few more. She later returned to her roots of nursing and worked one on one with a woman she loved like a mother.

In her leisure time she spent all of her time with her children and grandchildren. She absolutely enjoyed going out to eat or "trying new foods" as she would say. She also loved to shop ALL the time, boxes would just arrive and she would say I forgot I ordered that. If she wasn't reading the bible, then her go to television stations were The Food Network and A&E. Once she was exposed to First 48 there was no turning back for her. She loved to cook and at times thought she was an Iron Chef. But, when it came to desserts, she was untouchable!

Judy loved God and she made it a point to be a beacon for the world to see and hear of the word of God. She attended True Deliverance Church of God for over 20 years. She volunteered at the church often in the pantry and was at almost every event held there. She absolutely loved supporting and being with her church family. When she was chosen to be on the Intercessory Team it was like Christmas for her. She wore her badge of being a prayer warrior with pride and honor. She loved praying for others and being on the phone being a shoulder and ear that people could always lean on and talk to.

Even though we would have liked more time with her, she lived an incredibly blessed life and she shared that blessing with all of us. If you had the pleasure of getting to know her, you'll never forget her. There are very few people you come across in life that are as happy, positive, strong, caring, decent, upstanding, the list literally goes on and on. There are really no words that can accurately describe just how special a person she was. She was a absolute blessing in physical form and we thank God for the honor, priviledge, and pleasure of allowing us to have her in our lives.

Judy was proceeded in death by her mother Aileen Evans. She leaves behind to cherish and honor all the beautiful memories she left us with, her 3 children Emil(Pam), Shaneika, Tamika(AD). Her 11 grandchildren Sydney(Skinny Minnie), Taylor, Madison(Maddie Pooh), Ayanna(Mamas), Albert(Big Daddy), Ayiden(Shinky), Alesia(Poohka Gal), and Apollo(Poohka Man, Josh, Matthew, And Kiara. Her 3 siblings Melvin, Austin(Ray), and her 1 & only sister Alberta(Rochelle). As well as a host of Nieces and Nephews that she viewed as her children as well. As well as her extended families The Ragland Family, The Proctor Family, and The Venson Family. As well as her Godchildren and Godsiblings.
