Her early years were full of fun, travel, and family gatherings, many of which were at the home of Grandmother Iris Jackson.
Julie's early education was at Nativity Catholic School in Washington, DC. The family moved to Maryland in 1978, and she was enrolled in St. Matthias Catholic School in Lanham. Her exuberance earned her the nickname "Miss Sunshine" which was given to her by her fifth grade teacher at St. Matthias.
Julie enlisted in the Air Force in 1989, a year after graduating from Regina Catholic High School in 1988. At her station in Omaha, Nebraska she met many of the young ladies she would form a lasting bond - Renee, Tonya, Nateeta, Nancy, Chessie, Cheryl, Tillie to name a few, and others, some of whom have preceded her in death.
While serving in the military for 23 years, Julie was stationed in many countries, among them were Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Africa, and Panama. She retired on November 1, 2012 with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Her ailments were many, and she fought a brave fight, but, in the end, she was overcome by the hardships of trying to control her newly-discovered (onset immediately after retirement!!!) Type 1 Diabetes!
Julie leaves to mourn her passing: her "Mommy" Adrienne Herriott, "Daddy" William Herriott, Sr.; brothers Stephen Herriott and William Herriott Jr. (Carmen w/daughter Gabriella); sister Bonnie Herriott (Ismael Mendez, daughter Tiana Wright, son Massimo); Aunt Vernette C. Dance (son Albert Curseen III, daughter Autum Brown); Curseen Aunts Amy, Felicia, Veda, Antoinette, Vickie, Angie & Curseen Uncle Anthony; many Davis aunts & uncles; countless cousins - Jacksons, Curseens, Davis, Harris, etc.; other relatives and friends; special aunts Muriel Logan and Mary Helen Wicks.
