Mrs. Kulsum Isha Kumar

Deceased brothers and sisters include Hyder, Karamat, Ramzani, Sataur and Subhan Ali, Betty Nauth and NazMoon Ali.

In the course of seeking a career, Isha decided to pursue her love for hairdressing, and as such, left Guyana in 1960 to study cosmetology at the prestigious Richard Henery Academy in London. After completion, she married her fellow compatriot Rudy Kumar, and for more than 20 years they sought a memorable life amidst close family ties and everlasting friendships, of all nationalities and cultures.

In 1980 Isha and her family came to the United State from London so that her only daughter Reah could attend Gallaudet University (for the Deaf) here in Washington DC. For the last forty-four years she continued her life's journey living Washington, making new friends while keeping in touch with old acquaintances.

She would forever be missed.

Isha is survived by her daughter, Reah, two grandchildren , Ellie and Ravi and her husband, Rudy Kumar.

A visitation for Kulsum will be held Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, followed by a celebration of life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
