Lawrence (Larry) was born to Mary Ruth (Sweeney) and Edward Plinny Duley on November 23, 1959, in Cheverly, MD. He was the last of six children. After graduating from DuVal High School in Glen Dale, MD, he went to work at the MD National Capital Park and Planning Commission, moving up through the years to supervisor; receiving many commendations for his skills and dedication, fondly being dubbed “The Duke”. He served 38 years, retiring when his health began to decline.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy L Rowe, and sister in law Bonnie L. (Lovins) Duley. He was preceded in death by four brothers: George, William (Eddie) Sir, Paul Michael (Mike), and David R. He was blessed with many, many nieces and nephews and two dear lifetime friends: Robin Lusby and Robert Clark.
A family viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 1:00 – 1:30 PM with a graveside interment to follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
