Leolia Sarah Vaughns, mother to Gayle, Janelle and Thomas Vaughns, passed away on November 2, 2024. Born on June 21, 1939, in Staunton VA, Leolia’s final moments were spent peacefully, surrounded by her family.
A graduate of The American University in Washington, DC, Leolia was a dedicated professional, having worked over 30 years for the Department of Treasury in Washington, DC.
Leolia was a devout worshipper at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC and was married to Thomas Lee Vaughns for over 30 years. She is survived by her children, Janelle and Thomas Vaughns and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leolia was known for her intellect, faith, humility, and an unwavering love and loyalty to her children.
A private ceremony will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home in Brentwood, MD and the family will receive friends there after the service. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary.
