Lillian was born on February 14, 1932, as told to her by her family; however, after retrieving her birth certificate for retirement purposes she was supposedly born January 14, 1931. Her brother's birth certificate reflects him being born two month later. Lillian was educated in the Escambia County School system in Pensacola, FL. She graduated high school in 1953. Soon after she married seaman Joseph Williams and from this union Regina and Stephanie were born.
Lillian spent most of her career working in retail at Towers, S. Kleins, Zayres and finally retiring from Ames in the early 90's. Lil loved crossword puzzles, reading the Bible, a good novel and magazines. She was a avid listener of Al Sharpton, Joe Madison and the Moon Man radio programs. When it came too television she was not going to miss the local news, C-Span, Entertainment Tonight, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. For someone not on social media she seem to know all the latest pop culture and some of the latest dance moves. Lil was always a kind and giving person and wanted nothing in return unless you had something sweet to eat. She loved Mt. Jezreel and her church family but most of all she was a faithful member.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Williams and her parents: Credell and Pearlie Hopkins; five brothers, Henry (Hop), Phillip, Benjamin, LaBarron (Ban), Roosevelt (Buddy) Hopkins; two sisters, Lola Mae Trawick and Lucille Hartley. Yates (DeeDee Taylor); great grand daughter Harper E. Yates and a host of relatives and friends, especially Henrietta Johnson and Curtis Terry who she spoke with daily.
