

Mable H. Bell, 93, of Laurel, Maryland transitioned peacefully at her residence. She was born in Midland, North Carolina to Arthur and Eunita Howell. She graduated from Logan High School in Concord, North Carolina. After graduation she attended Bennett College, in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she majored in Physical Education. In 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Houston "Sco" Bell. Immediately after marriage her husband enlisted into the U.S. Army. During this time, they lived in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts among other places. After discharge, they moved to Washington, D.C., where they resided for many years.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Eunita Howell, her two brothers, Arthur "AJ" and James Wesley Howell and one sister, Everlene H. Fisher. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Felicia B. Bradshaw and one sister, Lucy Helena McCorkle. She is also survived by her loving niece, Valerie M. Brown and other nieces and nephews.
After her move to Washington D.C., she taught Physical Education in Virginia for a short time. She accepted a position as a P.E. teacher in D.C. Public Schools in both high and middle schools. She later she received her master's degree in counseling from Catholic University in Washington D.C. She retired after many years in the school system.
She loved her family, daytime soap operas and her two adorable pets, Ballpark and Shakespeare.
