It is so hard to believe that I won’t hear that wonderful laugh of yours or hear you call me “Twyla”. This was a nickname you gave me and for some reason I never stopped you from saying it because I knew this was a term of endearment from you. I was blessed to be your friend /family for over sixty years and I will always remember how you brought so much light to everyone around you and how you made everyone feel included when they were with you. I won’t say goodbye but I will say a true friend is never truly gone. Their spirit lives on in the memories of those who loved them.

Marion had always Bern the sunshine on ours lives since we were kids.  She always worried about others and provided guidance and  support.  She stayed on Carol and I behavior problems correcting us like she was our Mother.   I love her so very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Marion was a beautiful spirit and life-long friend. We met in Chicago and remained friends for over 40 years. She was a caring and generous person who wanted to help people to advance and achieve their goals. We had fun times and  long talks over the phone and in-person. Thank you, Marion, for being an unforgettable and wonderful friend.

My sincere condolences to the family of Marion Brown.  She was  a humble and kindhearted person. I am glad that our paths crossed. She knew what it took to write a grant and she did an excellent job.  Rest in peace,  Marion.

It's taken me a while to form my thoughts about the transition of my friend, Marion.   We were not BFFs, but we were LFFs (long-time, friends).  I've known her through her work at Whitman Walker and Covenant House Washington, and in our overlap in public broadcasting.  With another friend, Leigh, we dubbed ourselves the three musketeers when we'd regularly gather for gossipy lunches, each other's birthdays, and on a couple of creative projects.   I will always remember her kindness, her wisdom, her complete adoration of her family, and her pride in her work:  from Maryland Public Television to Freedom School to Cabrini Green.   I will miss her thoughtfulness, encouragement, and those searching eyes that always looked for the best of me, and everyone she cared about.   My deepest condolences to her family who she spoke of constantly.   ~ Cheryl

Marion was one of a kind. She was a beautiful woman with a  heart of God. I will always remember the love she  shared with her nieces and nephews (her  great nieces and nephews were the special ones). Marion would challenge their academics and encouraged nothing but excellence.
All whom loved Marion , you have my heartfelt Condolences...It's  ok to grieve as long as you wish...but do not grieve as there's no Hope..

As im writing tears are in my eyes  I know everything happens for a reason and God is in control but I can't believe this is really happening my heart is really broken  .She has done so much for me and Madyson over the years and im truly going to miss her. Marion, you will be missed every day! You always were so kind to me and we had so many wonderful conversations and shared much laughter. A  dear friend, good smile, great laugh, extremely intelligent, always helping or doing for others without fail...Couldn't drive worth a damn, and earned the moniker "Highway safety cone killer"...She wrote grants for millions of dollars for MPT.  
She maybe gone for now, but never forgotten....................

Now and then, we encounter someone truly extraordinary—not simply kind, interesting, or fun, but exceptional in the way they live and love. Marion was such a person.

Marion devoted her life to serving others. As a counselor, she leaned in to help those in need, choosing to face hardship rather than turn away from it. She worked with individuals experiencing poverty, mental illness, AIDS, and at-risk youth, offering compassion, dignity, and unwavering support.

She was also a dedicated professional who took great pride in her work as a grant writer, serving as Director of Grants at Baltimore Public TV. Her commitment and excellence made a lasting impact on the organizations and communities she supported.

To many, she was “Auntie Marion.” She had a remarkable ability to make every child feel seen, valued, and loved, embracing each one as her own.

Marion was a cherished and lifelong friend. We met in our mid-20s and shared more than 40 years of friendship. Together, we celebrated life’s joys and supported one another through its challenges. In our younger years, we shared countless conversations about dating and relationships—Marion, ever outgoing, was never shy about striking up a conversation with a handsome stranger.

She will also be remembered for her sense of humor and her humility—she would be the first to admit that cooking was not her strength.

Marion’s presence in my life was a gift beyond measure. She was one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed. I will always be grateful for the privilege of walking through life with her.
