Marshall “Teddy” Carey Jr., of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital at 6:30 pm.

Born November 11th, 1951 in Washington, DC to his late mother Rebecca Carey and late father Marshall Carey. Teddy spent his childhood in Purcellville, Virginia, where he attended George Washington Carver Elementary School. In 1963, he moved to the Washington, DC area with his parents and siblings, where he attended Stuart Jr. High School and Dunbar High School.

Teddy was an awesome and strong man. In his youth, he enjoyed playing basketball and dancing. As Teddy became an older man, he enjoyed going to the movies, watching television, collecting valuable antiques, spending quality time with his family and hanging out with his best friend Nadine Favors. Teddy had many great qualities about him that made everyone whom he encountered love him. He was truly a joy to be around!

Teddy was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. He would always encourage them to dig deep and go after what they wanted. He would always tell them to make sure they take time out for themselves and to go get them something nice.

Teddy survived by his daughters, Darlene Taylor and Dorothy Taylor, his son Maurice Carey, his two stepsons Troy Taylor and Maurice “Moe” Taylor. He is also survived by his sister Pamela Carey, his brothers Benjamin Benny Abdul – Haqq, Robert Carey, and Ricky Carey, his best friend Nadine Favors, his aunt, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, in laws, and friends.

Teddy was preceded in death by his daughter, Shanee Taylor, his parents, Rebecca Carey and Marshall Carey, his brothers, Mack Carey, Sandy Carey, Michael Carey, and his sister Sally Carey.
