

Marva Ann Briscoe McKinney was born on January 5, 1943 to the late Viola Carter & Frank Briscoe in Washington DC. Affectionately known as Ann, Annie, Ma, MomMom to family and friends. Marva was the second daughter and fourth child of ten children.
Ann was educated in the DC Public School System graduating from Martha Washington Vocational High School at the age of 16. She excelled in her studies as a seamstress and often made her own clothing.
Throughout her career, Ann worked at Georgetown Hospital, the Internal Revenue Service and, lastly, The Postal Service.
Ann had a welcoming smile and always made time to talk and listen to her friends, sometimes for hours. She was willing to lend a helping hand whenever she could. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, crocheting, and reading, and she dearly loved her dogs.
From her marriage to Aaron McKinney Sr., Ann raised two sons. A firm disciplinarian, she was known for “not having any nonsense,” a quality her sons knew well.
Ann was proceeded in death by her parents Viola Carter and Frank Briscoe, and her siblings, Frank Briscoe, Barbara Truesdale, Myrtle Dunbar, John Thomas and Margaret Hart.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Aaron McKinney (Deborah) of Largo, MD and Anthony McKinney (Pamela) of Upper Marlboro, MD. Six grandchildren: Luvina (Darryl), Greg, Anthony, Michael (Aneesa), Ashley, and Brianna. And her six great grandchildren, Malik, Dillion, Addison, DJ, Imani, and Jordan.
She is also survived by three brothers: Joseph (Roslyn), Theodore (Yvonne), and Bobby; one sister, Beverly (Norvell); and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Her welcoming smile, willingness to listen, and the memories she shared with those she loved will be fondly remembered.
