Mary N Campbell

Mary Naomi Campbell was born to the late Arthur Somerville and Alice Thompson on December 25, 1922 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. She grew up and attended schools in Washington, D.C. She met and married her late husband James N. Campbell Sr. and from that union, they had three children. After he passed, she met long-time companion Robert Jackson.
Mrs. Campbell was a devout Catholic who gave decades of service to many churches in the area, including the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church; she was a Sodalist of the Immaculate Conception Sodality of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She loved playing bingo and perfected the art of managing multiple boards without missing a number. For most of her adult life Mrs. Campbell was employed and took great joy in servicing people as Food Manager at Peoples Drug store Washington, DC.
Mrs. Campbell passed away May 12, 2020, in Bethesda, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her siblings Mary Adele Butler (James), Mary Elizabeth “Pudding” Brooks (Sinclair), Mary Alberta Somerville, Mary Estelle Somerville, Joseph Somerville, Francis Xavier Thompson and her son John William “Johnny” Curtis (Joyce). She is survived by her brother William Alexander “Johnny” Somerville (Carrie Mae). She leaves to cherish her memory her children James N. Campbell Jr. (Diane), and Mary Alice Campbell Sheard McLaughlin. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
