A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Marylou Vlahakis, 89, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023.
Born February 4,1934, she was the daughter of her beloved parents the late John A. Vlahakis and the late Elizabeth Chaconas Vlahakis, as well as sister to the late Anthony Vlahakis and the late Patricia Lazzaro.
Marylou had a successful career with AT&T and Lucent Technology. She retired in the 90s.
She loved traveling, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoyed her connections and spending time with great niece Isabella Lazzaro, great nephew Andrew Lazzaro and their mother Margie Lazzaro. She also adored our beloved family dogs Cooper, her favorite, and Tripp and could often be caught giving them people food and snuggles.
Marylou is survived by her brother Andrew Vlahakis and his wife Suzanne; great nephews Andrew and Peter Vlahakis, of Lafayette Hill, PA; her cousin John Apera of Norfolk, VA; her nephew Louis Lazzaro of Middleburg, VA; her great niece Isabella Lazzaro, great nephew Andrew Lazzaro and their mom Margie Lazzaro of Rockville, MD; and her great niece Alexandra Oakley of Virginia.
A gathering for Marylou will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 12:30 PM, followed by a service at 1:30 pm at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722. An interment of the ashes will occur Wednesday October 11, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722. A short reception to follow with food and drinks at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home.

Marylou Vlahakis, age 89, of Rockville, Maryland passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. Marylou was born in Washington.
A family gathering for Marylou will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722. A memorial service will occur Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722. An inurnment will occur Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
