
Born on October 4, 1952 to parents Viola (Dolly) and Adam Bonkowski.
Matthew, better known as Matty lived a life dedicated to his family and his country.
A proud veteran, Matty served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974.
He carried the values of service and duty with him throughout his life and enjoyed a phenomenal career as a renowned drywall tradesmen, until his retirement in 2016.
Matty was married to his beloved late wife, Betty (“Cookie”), with whom he shared many cherished years.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana, and son-in-law, Daryl; his son, Matthew Jr and spouse, Sandy; and his son, Christopher, and spouse, Carissa.
Matty was a beloved grandfather to 10-grandsons: Joseph III, Corey, Tyler, Shane, Noah, Aiden, Grayson, Christopher, Tyler and Joshua.
Two beautiful granddaughters, Amanda and Kailee.
He was also a proud great-grandfather to 2-great-granddaughters, Ariella and Milana, and three great-grandsons, Camilo, Legend, and Waylon.
Matty’s legacy will live on through his loving family, who will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to fish, hunt and tend to his garden.
He touched the lives of many with his quirky humor, and a commendable work ethic.
A visitation for Matthew will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A graveside service will occur Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
