On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Michael Eugene Lewis departed his earthly life at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. Michael, the oldest of 7 children, was born on May 12, 1957 to Walter E. Lewis and Laura B. Lewis at Prince George’s General Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Lewis and his sister Karen Lewis King.
Michael affectionately known as “Mikey” grew up in the small town of North Brentwood and attended public schools in Prince Georges County. While attending Mt Rainier Junior High School in Mt Rainier, Maryland, he was given the title “Star Athlete” in the fields of Basketball and soccer. Michael entered the workforce in the Construction field. Mike worked in construction as a Contractor for the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority ( METRO) for several years prior to an on- the- job injury which lead to his retirement.
Mike was a kind and loving person who enjoyed helping people in general. He will be remembered by many as a honest and sincere person. No matter what the request may have been or who it may have come from, he always displayed a willingness to lend a helping hand. Mike and his “side-kick” Shaquille (Quille) were very adamant about ensuring that his mom had everything she needed, from water to whatever. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting with family members and friends. He went on many fishing and hunting trips with his brother James and Shawn Byrd. He loved visiting his Aunt Mel, especially when she baked her homemade cakes, and who also made the best chicken salad and BBQ. Football and Basketball were also passions of Mikey’s and his teams were Miami Dolphins and the Miami Heat.
Mikey resided in Manassas, Virginia with his very dear friends Ronald and Janie Bright. Mike and Ronald were like brothers and had become the best of friends.
Michael leaves to cherish the loving memories of his life, his mother, Laura B Lewis, three brothers: Walter Jr., Paul and James, two sisters: Lynette and Deborah, 3 daughters and a host of aunts, nephews nieces, cousins and friends.
