Born January 17, 1953, in Carson, Mississippi; Mynita Edwards was born to Mary Helen Knight and the late Samuel A. Taylor, Sr.
In 1984, Mynita accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She entered eternal rest on April 19, 2021.
Mynita moved to Washington D.C. in the early 1970’s, with her first-born son, Jerrium to be close to her mother and siblings. She later had two other children, Tasha, and James. She was also the surrogate-parent of Camela Redding. Mynita was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, James Ander Edwards, Jr.
Mynita was a hard worker. She began her career in retail at Woodward and Lothrop, and later, the Hecht Company. She was very gifted in accounting and provided bookkeeping assistance for her late husband’s business, as well as financial management services for other individuals.
Mynita loved to love on people, and hosted many, if not all the family outdoor summer events. No one was a stranger at her family gatherings. She was selfless in making sure that everyone was happy and well fed.
Mynita loved her grandchildren and prided herself in assuring she spent as much quality time with them as possible. She did it all from reading books to taking the grandkids to the movies, Dave & Buster’s, Pump it Up! and Laugh out Loud, and let us not forget their favorite…Golden Corral for lunch.
Mynita filled her home from top to bottom with photos of her family. She guided her children and grandchildren with wisdom, love, and mutual respect. Though reserved, Mynita was extremely funny and kept the family laughing with her great sense of humor.
Mynita will be fondly remembered for her love of family, friends, and reading. She had a very special love, bond and friendship with her mother. Until her illness, they spent every Saturday from early in the morning until dusk together shopping, eating out and enjoying each other’s presence. Her sister always told her that she was the best daughter in the world. She was loved beyond measure and will be extremely missed!
We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories; your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again... ~ Broken Chain by Ron Tranmer
