Norma “Jean” Stewart passed away peacefully in her home on May 10, 2021. She was born on September 6, 1934, in Washington, DC to the late Norman Foster and Clyde “Ethel” Everett Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Harvey Stewart and her son Anthony C. Foster, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Taylor, her sister (Sharon - aka "Sis"), grandchildren (“Patrick”, Anthony Jr, Sharon, Kenny, Willeta, and Mishaud) and a host of great-grandchildren.
“Jean” grew up in SE Washington, DC and graduated from Cardozo High School in 1953. In the early 1950’s she held various jobs in Washington, DC, and retired from the Metropolitan Police Department as an administrative clerk in the fingerprinting office.
In the late 1970s, she relocated to York, PA with her husband and volunteered at the York City Rape Crisis Center and served as secretary for the UNITY community organization and as a den mother for Girl Scout Junior Troop 92. Later in her life, “Jean” devoted time as President of the resident’s association at Laurel Lakes Apartment community.
Her hobbies included reading the Washington Post, listening to audiobooks, going to farmer markets, and spending time with friends and family. “Jean” enjoyed visiting Baltimore and Annapolis to see the boats and water and watching Hallmark movies. She liked and frequently requested red beans and rice from Popeyes, collard greens, potato salad, and strawberry cheesecake. Her favorite color was “yellow”.
“Jean” made an impact on us all and will be missed by friends and family.
