Patrice Agnes (Thomas) Butler was born to the late Dorothy and James Thomas on March 17, 1958 in Washington, DC. She was the 6th daughter and 9th child of 13 children. Patrice departed this life on January 12, 2020.
Patrice attended D.C. Public Schools, Maury Elementary, Eliot Jr High and McKinley High School. Upon graduation Patrice attended Southeastern University where she received an Associate Degree in Computer Science. She worked for the Department of Treasury and Several Direct Care Facilities for the Mentally Challenged. Patrice married Gerald M. Butler and they had two sons, Michael Christopher and James Patrick.
The following are Patrice’s exact words. “To my cherished family and dear friends, I leave these thoughts and my love. I have the most wonderful nieces and nephews, and all of them are nice looking. I am truly blessed and I’m so happy I have a personal relationship with God. Jesus is my personal Lord and Savior. I love all of my brothers and sisters. I thank God I met the Spratleys, Nightengales, Mortens and Nobles. Sandra, Phillip, Stan and Vance I will miss you. St. John’s Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church gave me my direction. Pinky you really hung in there with me, thank you. Things that make me smile are talking to God and thinking about God. Being with family. I am proudest of being a Thomas and my sons Mike and James. I enjoy hand dancing, western movies, attending church and reading books.”
Patrice loved wearing plaid clothes, listening to oldies but goodies, playing basketball and telling corny jokes.
Patrice was proceeded in death by her Father (James), Mother (Dorothy), brothers (James, Tyrone and John) sister (Marilyn). She leaves to mourn her sons Mike and James, her brothers Robert (Charlene), William, Kevin (Beverly) and sisters Betty (George), Joann (Charles), Marcieta, Sandralyn and Tracie.
