“Lette” as she was lovingly called, was born on January 22, 1953. A middle child (and she acted like it), was raised in the house with her siblings Sandra, Bill, Karen, Eric, Kiki and Dickie. There were many folk in the house, many neighboring kids, kids from different neighborhoods, but she was always the peach ..what fun and sooo many fights we had…all in the name of family love.
She grew up in Chapel Oaks, MD, and graduated from Fairmont Heights High School. She married early, but went on to graduate from cosmetology school and opened her own shop with a friend and excelled in the business world. She was a mother, sister, wife, grandmother, aunt, and friend to those close to and around her, and excelled in all roles afforded her. Truly a life well lived!
She loved to be social, to laugh, talk, dance, sketch, and cook and that girl could cook! Her seafood salad made all of us race to the table. And oh, did she love to work. She spent a lot of years working and unlike most of us, she absolutely loved it, whether it was doing hair, admitting folk to the hospital, explaining medical records, selling furniture, or customizing home designs for her customers.
She is survived by her son John, whom she adored, his kids..Johnny, Johnette, Amina, Azza, Vonzell, Yaqeen, and Marion; sister Sandy; brothers Bill, Eric and Kiki; sisters-in-law Lavonne and Ivy; nieces Ali, Shaun, Kimberly, and Tina; nephews Alan, Antonio, Bill and Jay; our many lovely and handsome cousins; and, to her good friends Albert, Bren and Denise: she loved you much!
Lette, the peach, will truly be missed, but never forgotten, and we must not grieve, for she longed for the peace of going home to be with her God and parents Mena and Daddy, and sister Karen. They came to claim her at 8:20 a.m. on June 16, 2022. Go with God Lette, we love you girl.
