Rita Marie Sickle

Rita Marie Sickle, 97 1/2, beloved mother of four children, of Montgomery Village, Maryland, passed away at Sunrise Senior Living due to complications from a stroke on June 11th, 2026, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Cleveland in 1928 to John Adam Leonard and Margaret M Kilcoyne, and was the apple of her father’s eye. After graduating from school, Rita went on to work at Higbees as an elevator operator.

Rita was a devoted mother to Timothy, Mark, David and Richard. She always said that their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.

Rita took special joy in raising her sons, and had fond memories of loading up the family car for road trips to visit family in Cleveland, Ohio and Calvert County Maryland.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Charles Sickle, and has no surviving siblings. Her sons have given her nine grandchildren – Nicholas (Tim & Debbie), Mark Jr, Christina, and Angela (Mark and Diane), Lauren, Meredith (Dave and Sue), Elise, Kristen, and Brandon (Richard and Cindy), and eleven great grandchildren – Isabella, Harrison, Thomas, Henry (Christina and Christopher), Caroline, Jeremy, Natalie (Angela and Justin), Michael, John (Lauren and Gary), Jacob (Elise), and Skylar

(Kristen and Andrew).

Donations in lieu of flowers to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Frederick in her name are greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at Fort Lincoln, Little Church, 3401 BLADENSBURG ROAD, Brentwood, MD 20722, and also at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US.

A Celebration of Life will take place on June 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am at Fort Lincoln, Little Church, 3401 BLADENSBURG ROAD, Brentwood, MD 20722, and also at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US.

A Committal Service will be held on June 19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:10 am at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US.
