Peacefully Friday, May 15, 2020 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Robert Henry Easter took his final breath transitioning from earth to heaven. Also known as Bob, Bobbie, Rabbit, and Uncle Bob born January 23, 1937 in Bladen County, North Carolina to the late Tobe Easter and Mamie Murphy Carter. The youngest of 12 siblings. Siblings preceding him in death: Clover Easter, Lawrence Easter, James Easter, Luther Easter, Raymond Easter, Susie Gooch, Viola Grimsley, Jessie Holmes, Carrie Bell Purdie, and Amy Burton. As a child, Bob relocated to the Washington DC area with his mother and siblings. In 1958 while living on 15th Street SE Washington DC Bob met Mary Williams who he married on June 18, 1966.
Educated in the Washington DC Public School System and held multiple jobs throughout the DC area. He retired after 29 years of employment with the Government of the District of Columbia, Department of Public Works as a Vehicle and Equipment Operator. Accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior he became a member of the Isles of Patmos Baptist Church in the 1980s and served as a member of the Chambers Gospel Choir until his death.
Bob LOVED his family, each and every gathering, celebration, and life event that was celebrated in either DC, North Carolina, or South Carolina you would find Bob enjoying a home cooked meal (he loved food, especially deserts) and shortly after in a corner asleep! He also loved his neighborhood (15th Street) where he lived for over 50 years. In his later years you would find Bob on his front porch or walking in his backyard surveying his property. Bob was not a talker; however, his presence spoke volume with his calm demeanor and friendly smile. With a forgiving heart he graciously extended his hand to others.
Bob leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Mary Easter, sons Robert McAdams (Denise), Steve Valentine, William Easter, daughters Deborah Morris, Myra Easter, Robin Stephens (Rodney) and he was a custodial parent to Elaya Woods. One sister Amelia Roth (Melvin); Three sisters-in-laws Mamie Murphy, Sylvia Easter and Shirley Williams, Three brother-in-laws Willie Williams, Isaac Williams Jr. (Margert) and Earl Grimsley; Eleven grandchildren Damon, Quiana, Matthew, Vincent, Jonathan, Robyn, Sheri, Zachary, Brannon, Antonio and Eli and seven great-grandchildren. Robert also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
