

He had many names — Rome, Rory, Lollipop, Toto, Thaddeus, Pung Pung, Punglebee, & Uncle Head. Rory was a loving son to Emma Togonon Dacquel and Romeo Alfonso Dacquel, brother to Romeo Saturnino Dacquel II, Maria Dacquel Murphy, Laarni Verdolin, Lorelei DeVos (Brian) & Joy Dacquel Clem (Joe) and uncle to Hana & Keli Murphy, Mia & Mikey Verdolin and Izzy DeVos.
Rome emigrated from Manila, Philippines with his family in 1969 and settled in College Park, MD and later Kettering, MD. He became a naturalized citizen in 1980. He was a Boy Scout, a JROTC cadet at Largo High School, and joined the US Marine Corps upon graduation. Romeo was proud to serve his country, where his duty assignments included Norway, Germany and Okinawa, Japan.
He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a bachelor's degree in urban studies and planning. He worked for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) for a number of years before spending nearly 3 decades as a realtor and processing manager for Weichert, Realtors in Bowie, MD.
Rory enjoyed poker, golf, tennis, guitar, photography, fast cars, off-road trucks, motorcycles, music, dancing, and cooking.
Romeo was a parishioner of Holy Family in Mitchellville, St. Mark's Catholic Church in College Park, and St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Bowie, MD where he was a member of Knights of Columbus.
Reverend Andrew Clyne of St. Edward will officiate his memorial service at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 3401 Bladensburg Rd. in Brentwood, MD on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11am. His inurnment will immediately follow at the Dacquel family plot where he will be laid to rest near his father, Romeo A. Dacquel, who preceded him in death. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the funeral home.
