Ronald Lee Pope was born on June 23, 1953, to the late Gladys Charles and Clarence Pope in Newport News, Virginia. Not long before Ron was six years old, his mother moved him and his two sisters to Washington, DC.
Ronald attended DC Publics schools such as Mott Elementary, Garnett Patterson Junior High and Chamberlain Vocational High School. Ron grew up in the Ledroit Park area where he met many lifelong friends and his childhood sweetheart Celestine, whom he later married, and they had a daughter Rhonda.
Ronald left lasting impressions on everyone he connected with. He loved his coworkers and patients at Department of Commerce, The Washington Gas Company, Georgetown University Hospital and Metropolitan Eye Care Center, and they loved him back.
Ronald was the life of the party. Everywhere Ron went he was sure to know someone. He had an infectious smile, quick wit, and laid-back personality. He loved spending time with his family. He loved spoiling his grandson, talking trash to his big sisters, worrying his daughter, catching up on old times with his childhood buddies and just recently spending time with his new neighbors that always looked out for him.
Ronald will truly be missed here in the physical but will rejoice in Heaven with family members who preceded him. His mother and father, Carl and Gladys Owen and Clarence Pope, Grandparents Marshall and Geneva Charles, stepdaughter Antionette Riley, and Step-grandson Edward Robinson Jr.
Ronald is survived by his daughter Rhonda Gore (James), grandson Kairi Gore, great friend/ex-wife Celestine Pope, sisters Joyce Pope-Little (Harold), Joan White (Lawrence), stepsister Joyce Jones (George), stepsons Edward Robinson Sr. (Effie) and Derrick Robinson, stepdaughter LaToria (Lawrence), step grandson William Riley, Jr., step granddaughter Edasha Robinson (Ryan), Aunt Tracey Charles, and a host of cousins, family and friends.
