Rosa Plummer-Gaskins

Rosa Marie Plummer Gaskins was born January 9, 1936, 2nd born to the late James Edward Johnson and the late Marie Louise Johnson in Washington, DC. She attended DC and Prince George’s County Public Schools.

She was the mother to Robert Lee Johnson (late) and later married Hamilton Plummer Sr. From that union was born Hamilton Plummer Jr. and Debra Ann Raji. Later born to Rosa was Cynthia Denice Plummer (late), Jacqueline Anita Paul, and Sandra Karen McLaughlin. She later married Precious Willie Gaskins and from that union came William Todd. He preceded her in death in 2013.

Rosa held various positions in the Washington area, mainly in patient care. She was last employee at D.C. General Hospital until her retirement.

Rosa was a professional mother and caregiver. Her home was always filled with kids from the neighborhood, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Even her neighbors affectionately called her “Mom”.

After a long illness Rosa was visited by an angel early in the morning of October 21, 2021 who told her that her work was done. It was time to rest.

Rosa is preceded in death by her siblings Mary Cooke, George (Sonny) Johnson, Robert (Jr.) Johnson, James (Alec) Alexander Johnson, and Wallace (Nat) Nathaniel Johnson, her son Robert Lee Johnson, daughter Cynthia Denice Plummer.

She leaves behind her sisters Shirley M. Britt, Gloria J. Fludd, Agnes Johnson, brother Clarence E. Johnson, children Hamilton Plummer Jr. (Paula), Debra Ann Raji, Jacqueline Anita Paul, Sandra Karen McLaughlin (Jimmy), William Todd Gaskins. She also leaves 14 Grandchildren: Damone, Anthony, Robert, Christian, Donnell, Tomika, Ashley (Terry), Shanika, Amoni, Chloe, China, Jacob, Kimmi and Charity and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
