Roval Crawford was born on August 22, 1942 in Clarendon Jamaica, to the late Thelma Melephant and Abner Crawford. Roval was an accomplished tailor and learned his trade in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He owned a successful tailor shop in Kingston, Jamaica which boasted both local and foreign clientele, and was considered to be one of the best in Kingston.
He was united in holy matrimony to Olga Chambers in1970 and migrated to the United States two years later, where he worked in the DC Public School system for over 30 years. Roval was a hardworking dedicated employee who could be depended on to “get the job done right the first time”.
He was a very particular man and would always stand out in a crowd because of the meticulous way he dressed and carried himself. He took his role as an uncle seriously and would not hesitate to speak honestly and directly to his loving cousins and a slew of nieces and nephews.
Roval was preceded in death by his wife, Olga and his son, Christopher Sr.
He is survived by four daughters; Marjorie Holdbrook-Smith (Samuel), Capitol Heights, MD, Denise Crawford, Beltsville, MD, Natalie Ennis, St. Andrews, Jamaica, Georgette Crooks (Joseph) High Point, North Carolina and one son, Roval Crawford Jr. (Erica) of Bryan’s Road, MD.
Four sisters; Dorothy Atkins (UK), Ivy Ellis (Jamaica/USA), Shirley Crawford “Pearl” (Jamaica), Miriam Longmore ”Patsy”(UK), two brothers, Allan Crawford (Canada), Milton Heath “Popsey” (Jamaica), two uncles Milton Melephant ( Lucilda) Jamaica/USA and Emile Melephant (UK), and a host of other relatives and friends.
Roval was a proud grandfather and leaves to mourn his passing, Georgia “Niesha”, Christopher “Chris”, Marcus, Samuel Jr., Sam Jr., Kelis “Princess”, Roval III “Tre”, Tyneshia, Marsha, Darnell, Christopher II, Caleb, Collin and “Nini”.
