

Russ was born on January, 8, 1928 in Washington, D.C., the fourth eldest of nine children of Arthur and Helen (Conard) Stoutsenberger. He graduated from Central High School, Class of 1947.
Russ was a lifelong sports fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Senators teams. Russell enjoyed hunting and skeet shooting with friends. He traveled with his brother to many European Countries and to Northern Africa.
Russ married and stepped into the role of dad to two young children, Donna and James. Shortly after, his son Jeffry was born. Russ loved being a dad and having a family was very important to him.
In 1974, he remarried Rose Mary Ellis and their love continued to grow and develop over 37 years. Family was important to both of them and they shared special relationships with the children, family and friends. In later years, their beloved pets, Dollie and Kabebe, became the center of their attention.
Russell was employed with Automatic Equipment of VA, a Carrier A/C Distributor until his retirement over 30 years ago.
In retirement, Russ became an avid gardener, like his parents, and spent hours each day taking care of the garden. Russ often volunteered in his local community assisting in various areas of charity work. He was an active member of Groveton Baptist Church and a member of their choir.
At assisted living, he was well liked by all the staff and neighbors. He participated daily in almost every activity winning the hearts of many with his happy smile and cheerful attitude.
He is survived by his sister, Laverne Gowin, children, Donna(Mike)Downs and James(Debbie) Puckett and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife Rose Mary Ellis, his son, Jeffry Stoutsenberger and his siblings, Leroy Stoutsenberger, Marvin Stoutsenberger, Clifford Stouts, Arthur Waine, Chirley Ullberg, Estelle Mangrum, and Robert Stoutsenberger.
A celebration of his life will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral home, 3401 Bladensburg Rd. Brentwood, MD on Sunday, October 29, 2023, with burial to follow. Flowers are welcome. Memorial contributions can be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
