Ruth Colclough

I will always remember my sister Ruth as a kind, loving and caring person who cared about her family and friends.

When she left for the Job Corps, I told her “You are my role model and I admire

You For having the courage to leave home and go far away”. She would remind me of this from time to time, asking me “Am I still your role model”? Of course, I said yes!!!

Every year when she came home to South Carolina, we looked forward to the goodies she would bring for us to eat. She would also claim to know how to drive and I always ended up pulling my car out of trouble.

She would also take over the cooking duties from my mother. She loved to cook and would cook some of our favorites.

Since we lived in different parts of the country, I didn’t get the chance to be with her regularly. But we kept in touch by phone and would talk for long periods of time. She had a great sense of humor and would end the call with something to make you laugh.

One of the most important things about Ruth was being a true witness of her faith. Over the years I have watched her and her close friend Geneva as they did their presentations. She would always let me know when to tune in and I was impressed with their knowledge.

Recently, as she was going through what we call “the trials of life,” her faith was as strong as ever. I told her once that I was going on a trip but was worried about her. Her reply was “Don’t worry about me, take your trip. I have Jehovah and my brothers and sisters in faith”.

I will truly miss you, but I take comfort in knowing that we have been promised that we will see our loved ones again.
