

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Hopewell United Methodist Church of Tatum, South Carolina.
She was educated in South Carolina. She was the first child in her family to attend college and graduate from Claflin University; South Carolina’s oldest HBCU on June 1, 1949 with a BS in Social Studies and Elementary Education.
Sarah relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1942. She was joined in holy matrimony on January 22, 1950 to Robert Brown Jr. She continued her Christian growth at Metropolitan Baptist Church and later became a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and worked with the Hospitality Club.
Sarah was involved in several community activities. She joined Queen Esther Chapter #1, and received several certificates of recognition. In 1988, she was appointed O.E.S. Flag Bearer. She later became the “Worthy Matron” in the year of 1996.
She worked in the accounts payable department for Jelleff’s and Garfinkel’s department stores in Washington D.C. In her later years she spent her time relaxing on her front porch with the neighborhood dog “Tuffy”, working on puzzle books, looking at Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories; two children, Sarah Melinda Warren, and Robert Leon Brown EL; two loving grandchildren, Adrian Robert Warren, and Andre David Warren Sr; five great-grandchildren, Journi, Ameya, Andre Jr, Brandon, Adriene; one sister, Wilhemina Davis; Goddaughter, Sylvia Brown; Godson, Alfred Brown; devoted nieces Julia Bruton, and Everetta Lofton; one son-in-law, Ronald D. Warren; four sister-in-laws, Annie Ruth David, Loretta Brown, Thelma Munderlyn, and Theola Milton; brother-in-law, Laney Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
