She was born to George and Lizzie Jeanette Dunning on January 21, 1937. She was the third of six children born. Susie had her formal education in the Public School System of Nelson County, Virginia, Graduating in 1955.
As a new graduate, ready to conquer the world, she moved north, to Washington DC. It was here she worked many, many jobs (the 1st at Ben’s Chilie Bowel) and attended many training and educational classes.
In 1958 Susie was blessed with the birth of her son Anthony (Tony) Dunning. Never to be denied, in 1965, November 22, Susie started her career in the Federal Government at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing; again, taking many more classes, moving toward advancement. She worked in the Office of Financial MGMT / Accounting Division, there affectionately known as “The Money Lady.” Susie retired 1995 December 1st after 30 years of service.
Susie embraced her faith with Jesus Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Shipman Virginia. In 1970’s in Washington DC, she joined the Isle Patmos Baptist Church where she was a committed member until health issues prevented. In 1975 she met and married the now late George T. Williams. Over the years she served the church diligently in various ministries, including the Usher Board, teaching Bible Study, managing / cooking in the church kitchen and supporting members as needed. Susie had a love for sports, especially league bowling where she had many trophies, baseball and the Washington Redskins football.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted sister Shirley Pilgrim, son Anthony Dunning grandson Anthony D. Sandidge, with host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous step-children, step-grand/great grand children along with a host of other family and friends.
A visitation for Susie will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, followed by a funeral service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
