Sylvia was born on February 8, 1954 in Washington, DC to Evelyn Turner and William Gales Jr. Growing up she had three sister and four brothers. She married Cornell Scott, her first husband and was married to him until he passed Nov. of 1994. She remarried to Joseph Williams Jr. February of 1998. Sylvia lived most of her years at 7718 Normandy Road Landover MD, where she began working for a bank as a Teller. Over time she worked towards gaining experience as a teacher. She taught in Prince Georges County Public Schools for many years as a one on one assistant for children with disabilities and or special needs. Over many years, Sylvia welcomed many children into their home. She set about teaching them life skills, the way of the Lord, and how to be the best versions of themselves. Her children remember her as stubborn, a fighter, honest, patient, caring, and driven mother and women of God who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Sylvia was accomplished at cooking, baking of all sort, banking, bowling and teaching. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved the Lord God above all else. She was passionate about teaching others about Gods word and giving all the worship unto him no matter where you are and how you feel. Which she did always. She was an active and dedicated member of the Ark of Safety Christian Church.
