With deep sadness, yet with gratitude to God for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Thelma Moreen Bent, who entered eternal rest on August 26, 2026, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center at the age of 57.
Thelma was born on December 25, 1968, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to her beloved parents, the late Ivy and David Bent. She grew up surrounded by family alongside her brothers and sisters: Daphne, Devon, Jean, Patsy, Kenneth, Franklyn, and Sargant.
Thelma was a devoted woman of God whose faith was at the center of her life. She loved worshipping the Lord and speaking about His goodness. Even during times of sickness, her faith remained strong. She continued to trust in God and found strength and comfort in Him throughout her journey.
Those who knew Thelma will remember her as a kind, caring, and genuinely beautiful soul. She had a heart for others and showed compassion and concern for the people around her. Her kindness was not simply something she spoke about—it was reflected in the way she lived and treated others.
Family meant so much to Thelma. She cherished the time she spent talking with her family members and friends, sharing stories, laughter, encouragement, and love. She also had a love for cooking, and the meals she prepared were another way she expressed her care for those closest to her.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and David Bent, and her siblings, Gloria and Ralph. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Thelma leaves behind her loving sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends, all of whom will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Although her presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the kindness she showed, and the faith she demonstrated will continue to live in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Her beautiful smile and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.
We take comfort in knowing that the woman who spent so much of her life speaking about the goodness of God is now resting in the presence of the Lord she loved and trusted so dearly.
Rest peacefully, Thelma. Your faith remained strong, your heart remained kind, and your love will remain with us always.
