Tonya Renee (Holmes) Proctor was born February 21, 1968. The first child of Melvin Davis and Doris Holmes. At the age of fifty-seven, she passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Southern Maryland Hospital.
After dedicating 21 years to Prince George’s County Police Department, Tonya was set to retire on July 1, 2025, as CPL Tonya Proctor. She graduated from Grantham University with her bachelor’s in criminal justice.
Tonya was married to James Michael Proctor on September 27, 2002.
She had many hobbies, traveling with her husband to see her girls and grandchildren, bowling, fishing, and shopping, which she was one of Coach’s biggest customers. She was best known for taking care of her loved ones and getting her crabs fix every chance she could.
Tonya is preceded in death by her father Melvin Davis, stepmother Marvel Davis, two brothers Marvin and Melvin Davis, and mother-in-law Gloria (Proctor) Johnson.
Tonya is survived by her husband James M. Proctor, her two daughters, Tanisha Holmes and Kamesha Moore (Marcus), two granddaughters Treniti Suber and Jurnee Moore, two grandsons Kristian and Peyton Ginyard, mother, Doris Holmes, sister, Shanee Holmes, brother, J’Vaughn Holmes, and two nieces and two nephews.
She also leaves to cherish her sweet memories, best friends, brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews, two God daughters, bowling, church and work families, and a host of other wonderful relatives, friends, and neighbors.
The Proctor Family will receive friends at The Temple of Praise, 700 Southern Ave. SE, Washington DC on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:00 am. The service will follow at 11:00 am. Following the services, interment will take place at National Harmony Memorial Park 7101 Sheriff Rd, Hyattsville, MD 20785.
