

Tyler Shaw was born April 16,1941 in Brunswick County , Virginia to Tyler M Shaw and Marie Brown Shaw. He departed this life on January 21, 2025 where he resided at Deanwood Rehabilitation Center in Northeast Washington, DC.
Tyler was affectionately known as "Big Eye", a nickname given to him by his uncle William "Shoat" Brown that followed him throughout his life. He attended Brunswick County public schools and was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church.. At an early age, he relocated to Washington, DC where he obtained work in masonry at the Person Construction Company. He remained there until his health began to deteriorate. It was at that time that he entered Deanwood Wellness Center. He had several friends all throughout his life. Tyler loved music, sports, and hanging out with his friends. He maintained his faith and outgoing attitude all the way until he was called home.
Tyler was one of six children. He was a brother, an uncle, and a good friend to all.
He is survived by brothers Edward Shaw(Ne Marie), Thomas Shaw, Matthew Shaw who preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn sisters Ercell Buckson (Ne Johnny of Baltimore), Jacqueline Person(Ne Earl of Baltimore), Big Sis Mabel Newell of Broadnax, Virginia. Good friends Sollie Raymond Harris and Harry Carrington of Washington, DC and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
