On Apr 9, 1935, Baltimore, Maryland welcomed the bright arrival of Regina (Virginia) Theadus, born to her young parents, Adolf Theadus and Leokadja Politowicz. As life unfolded, Virginia moved to Portsmouth, Virginia, to live with her grandfather, benefiting from a firm and stable home to complete her education.
The wonderful friendships forged during that era led her straight to Washington, D.C.—a journey that proved to be her most consequential. Landing her very first job at a local carry-out sandwich shop owned by Edward "Tippy" Lyons, Cupid struck! On Aug 9, 1958, Tippy and Virginia welcomed their son, Edwin Lyons, into the world. On Mar 28, 1960, 24-year-old Virginia became Virginia Lyons when the couple united in marriage. Their family was blessed again on Jul 6, 1963, with the joyful birth of their daughter, Gina Marie Lyons.
Through life's trials and tribulations, Tippy and Virginia were soon "moving on up" from apartment living to a home on Franklin Street in Northeast D.C. With its big backyard and quaint dining room, the house quickly became the lively center of family get-togethers. Known affectionately to her countless friends as "Ginny," she flourished in this warm environment. With so many pets in the house, you might have thought Noah's Ark had stopped by, as her lifelong passion for dogs truly blossomed. To this day, her mantle remains adorned with the ashes of the dogs she loved so dearly.
Ginny's sweet and loving personality was her signature hallmark. Following a vibrant 30-year career as a bank teller for SunTrust, she eagerly turned her energy toward bestowing her love on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reaping the immense joy they brought into her life.
Instilled from her early baptism at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Ginny's unyielding faith in God was her constant source of solace. For over 60 years, she celebrated Sunday Mass at St. Anthony's Parish without fail. Following the passing of her beloved husband of 47 years, Ginny continued giving back to her community by serving as a welcoming greeter at the Monastery gift shop.
Ginny lived with heart, warmth, and an unforgettable spirit. As a devoted mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend, her joyful memory lives on in all who knew her.
