Tis Christmas of 2024. Every time I hear the ever-popular Karen Carpenter song , Merry Christmas Darling, I think of how that song saddened Wayne as he thought of his mom. A multi-talented man with a tender heart. Still missing you sorely.

I'm so sorry I just found out about this, Wayne. I can't believe it. We were almost family a long time ago, back when we were both still virtually babies. The last time I spoke with you was when your father passed away. We promised to stay in touch, but of course life got in the way, and we didn't. I was looking you up to try to reconnect, and this is what I found. I wish circumstances had been different. Even though we didn't remain close, I will miss you. I've thought about you often over the years.

I still miss you, but I know you are in a better place along with your cousin Chris who passed last year. Your cousin Becky

I know I have posted here already...however I just recalled a moment with Wayne that means a world to me. Through my childhood, I always wanted to be someone’s best friend. When I went to the funeral of Wayne’s mother (Irene), Wayne and I shared an embrace, and as he wept, he told me I was “his best friend”. That memory has just dawned on me after the past several years. At the time I learned of his mom’s passing (and the speed limit at the time being 55mph, I raced from Frederick...down I-70...around the beltway...at 80mph. I have a new phone number...240-313-0014...if anyone would like to contact me. I am STILL wrestling with thoughts of how/why Wayne passed. Wayne had a personal trust in our Lord Jesus, and as well as a few others, I KNOW he is in the loving care of our Lord Jesus. I know I will see MY best friend Wayne again one day where there is no pain, stress, schedules to worry about or hurt. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.........

I just learned last week that Wayne passed away when my Christmas card came back.  I enjoyed his visits to Houston. Was able to show him around nasa when he came.

I just learned that my cousin Wayne Swiger passed away. He was much a much loved person. He lived on the east coast and I and my family lived on the gulf coast, but felt that we were close. He was a very kind hearted person would do anything for you. Love you Wayne, will miss you a lot.

It has been several hours since I learned this news, and I only wish I had known to be there at his memorial....or perhaps during Wayne's last days. The two other posts on here are exactly how I knew Wayne, for the last 41 years....as one of the most thoughtful, giving, self-sacrificing people I have ever known. A true good friend. We met in the late 70's through his girlfriend at the time, whom he was with for many years. He & I remained in contact, first, for vehicle repairs. After that, his former girlfriend, who remained his friend (a testament to both of their kind natures), and I spent a lot of time together. I have hundreds of happy, funny, and meaningful memories of Wayne over many decades. His kindness, his introspection, his frustrations, his deep sadness over the loss of his mother, his gift of friendship, his very social nature. He made friends easily. Wayne drew people to him. And no one ever worked as hard, even when they weren't feeling well. He also adored animals - - cats & dogs. I will miss his voice, so distinctive, and his laugh. He always remembered my birthday, and I always remembered his. I already  miss you, Wayne, and if the Christmas card I sent you hadn't been returned to me today, I would not have known we'd lost you. This is a second post to family and other friends of Wayne Swiger. I have been good friends with Wayne since high school. Unfortunately life took us down seperate paths, in particular the past 3-4 years. I last spoke with Wayne within the past year. Wayne was selfless....he could never say NO to anyone in need...especially when it came to fixing your vehicle. Wayne was a STELLAR mechanic. He would help you for  NOTHING...especially when you HAD nothing to offer him for needed parts or work. I lnow Wayne had MANY people who loved him. I am one of many who may not have heard of Wayne passing, untill it was too late. I PLEAD with anyone who knows of the circumstances of Waynes passing, to contact me. Wayne and I met through a mutual friend in 1974. We became very good friends and remained that way for MANY years. He worked hard...and partied hard. Ge would never say no to anyone who needed help. Wayne was a stellar mechanic. If he couldnt fix something...it couldnt be fixed. My wish is that he didnt die alone. We had a "gang", of which many of us lost communications. I will NEVER forget you, my brother. I have loved you...and you WILL BE MISSED. Any mutu as l friend can ferl free to email me.

Wayne assisted, did the lion's share, of cleaning out my Mom's and Dad's condominium.  This is a daunting and emotional task.  Wayne had valid suggestions.  The apartment was filled initially with memories and finally with useful items for many charities.  He handled them all.  He also assisted with a warehouse move.  This move involved heavy equipment and awkward items.  Wayne was gracious, good humored, and efficient.  It is much too soon to be doing the same for him.
