Willie Mack Williams, son of the late John Williams and Essie Glover, was born July 25, 1938, in Saluda, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on April 03, 2023 at Sterling Care Bethesda Nursing Facility.
Willie Mack attended public school in Saluda County. He left Saluda at the age of 14, working various jobs throughout South Carolina and other states before settling in Washington, D.C. in his early twenties, where he met the love of his life and later wed Evelyn Tillman. He had many professions during his lifetime as a sharecropper, construction worker, carpenter and an entrepreneur before starting his career in the District of Columbia Public Schools as a welder where he later retired. He was an extremely hard-worker and during his down time you could catch him at the park fishing.
He was a man of courage and strength, who spoke many words of wisdom. Who didn’t mind bestowing knowledge upon you as long as you had the ear and the time to listen to the jewels that he would drop and the jokes he would tell. Hence, how he got the nickname “Radio”. His words of wisdom and belief in the Lord touched everyone he met. His big smile would light up a room and the stories he would tell would keep you intrigued, laughing, or maybe even crying. He was kind-hearted but yet stern and was loved by his family, neighbors and friends. To know him was to love him.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Evelyn Williams, one daughter Terry Reid-Pegram, one son Cleo Patrick Robinson; eight brothers: Graham, Mack Jordan (MJ), Robert, James, Albert, Fred, Jordan and John Williams; and four sisters Essie Daniel, Martha Ouzts, Janie Jackson and Addie Ingram.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children six children Bonita, Zock, Willie Carl, Darlene, Gwendolyn and TaShawn Williams. Two daughter-in-law’s Michele Boyd (Zock) and Greta Robinson (Cleo); one son-in-law Lemuel”Mike” Pegram (Terry); 1 sister-in-law Jessie Williams (Charles); 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and a host of family and friends.
