

She was married for 73 years to her beloved Luther Bell Parker, who preceded her in death on August 16th, 2025. Luther affectionately called her “Rainey Day”.
Lorraine was born in Washington, D.C. March 14th, 1935, to the late Laura Adelia Bruner and Emmanuel Perry.
Lorraine attended various schools within the Washington, D.C. public school system. She was known to be a kind and compassionate person whose interests in caring for others, especially early in life, led her on an extensive and fulfilling journey in pediatric care.
She was employed as a Nursing Assistant from 1953 to 1994 at numerous hospitals in the D.C. area. Some of which included Garfield (now Washington Hospital Center), Providence Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Freedman’s Hospital (now Howard University Hospital), and D.C. General Hospital, where she retired in December 1994. Over those years, she received numerous awards and recognitions for her dedicated service. She rejoined the workforce, serving in the Office of Child Support and Enforcement between 1998 and 2005.
Between 1953 and 1957, Lorraine gave birth into the world and raised, with her husband Luther three boys (Michael, Ricardo, Alardo) and a daughter (Remana).
Lorraine was a loving person and enjoyed sharing time with family and friends at reunions and gatherings. In 1998, she became a member of the Montford Point Marines Association (her brother Wilmore was a Montford Point Marine). Additionally, she became a member of the worldwide, charitable service Order of the Eastern Star organization and held several leadership roles. She was also a founding member and sole survivor of the Lez Funzies – a small club of fun-loving women enjoying each other’s company, and the company of others. She enjoyed life.
As the matriarch of the family’s lineage, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother Wilmore Perry and her sister Delores Manly. She also leaves to cherish her memories, three sons – Michael Parker (Janiese), Dr. Ricardo Parker (Dianne), Alardo Monwell Parker, and her daughter, Remana Lai Russell. She also leaves 11 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-great-great-grandchildren 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and a host of cousins.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends, but her legacy and memories will continue to live forever in our minds and hearts.
A visitation will be held on November 25, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, located at 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722, US.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue, starting at 10:30 am, with a live stream available at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c25113287244650.
Interment will take place at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, also located at 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722, US, with a live stream available at the same URL.
