Elmer Thurman Wolfe

A visitation for will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel, Bridgeport, Nebraska 69336. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Fellowship Assembly of God Church, Bayard, Nebraska with Pastor Larry Russel officiating. Interment will be at Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, Nebraska with military honors.

Elmer Thurman Wolfe was born on June 3, 1929 to Harold Roe an Isabell Florence (Klink) Wolfe in Rose, Nebraska. Elmer attended grade school and high school in Bassett, Nebraska. He boxed all 4 years in high school and graduated in 1949.

He was drafted in the U.S. Army right after high school and was stationed in Germany.

Elmer married the love of his life, Dorothy Annabelle Wheeler on August 8, 1954. In 1960, they were blessed with a daughter, Theresa Ann. They resided in Oshkosh, Nebraska until 1968. While there, he crushed rock and drove truck of the County. From there they moved to Bayard, Nebraska and Elmer pumped gravel until the ripe old age of 90, when he was forced to retire due to a triple bypass.

Elmer and Dotti attended the Catholic and Episcopal Church in Oshkosh and the Episcopal Churches in Bayard and Bridgeport.

His favorite color was red, favorite seasons were spring and fall and he loved his sweet, especially cakes and cookies.

Elmer was a very strong man, working out in the elements for years. He did pullups in his basement until 90 years old and did pushups and setups at the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy "Dotti" Wolfe, father Harold Roe Wolfe, mom Isabel Florence Vargason, sister Joan Wolfe, nephew Tom Herrington, brothers-in-law Daniel Wheeler and James Hilderbrand.

Elmer is survived by his daughter Theresa "Terri" Peonio and husband John; grandson Travis Peonio and wife Cassandra, great grandson Geovanni and granddaughter Sophia, granddaughter Johnnie Ann Ogden and husband James, grandson Thomas Ogden, great granddaughters Annabelle and Maddie; sister Wanda Herrington and husband Ray, niece Joan Thorne and husband Abbey, nephew Bill Herrington and wife Becky and several great nieces and nephews.
