Gladys L. Peterson

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Life Assembly, Bridgeport, Nebraska with Rev. Robert Nazarenus officiating.  Burial will follow at the Angora Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bridgeport Memorial Chapel. 

Memorials may be given to the New Life Assembly of God Church. 

Gladys was born on March 27, 1909 in Murdo, South Dakota to Fred and Mary (Quaring) Burry.  The family moved to western Nebraska when she was a young girl. Later, she was united in marriage to Roy W. Peterson on October 30, 1934.  They ranched for 56 years near Angora, Nebraska until Roy passed away in December, 1990.  Gladys moved to Bridgeport a year later and resided there 12 years.  She was a member of the Sandhill Bells Extension Club, Angora Hilltoppers, attended Angora Bible studies, Women’s ministries and was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church. She also enjoyed having Bible studies in her home.

Survivors include her daughters: Joyce (Jim) Smith of Sheridan, WY, Mary (Bob) Nazarenus of Grand Island, NE and Marlene (Harlan) Dunlap of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren: Kevin (Charlotte) Smith of Kirkland, WA, Kurt Smith and D’Laine (Devan) Roberts of Sheridan, WY, Renee (Jeff) Tyson of Lincoln, NE, Kerri (Don) Nelson of Atkins, IA, Mark (Dana) Dunlap of Windsor, CO, Debra (Kevin) Varoz of Fort Collins, CO; and ten great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister, Estella Clark of Springfield, MO and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Elmer Burry, Walter Burry and Clarence Burry and sisters Alice Solid and Della Lawrence.
