

Mary Ann Tafoya, 59, of Bayard, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Regional West Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayard with Fr. David Rykwalder officiating. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the church. Friends may call from 9 am until 5 pm Tuesday at Bayard Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Bayard Cemetery. Bayard Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. Mary was born August 25, 1946 in Scottsbluff to Charles Koncaba and Clara (Dienes) Koncaba. She married Windell “Bud” Reynolds Sr., and they lived in El Campo, TX. They had three children, Betty Jean, Windell Lowery Jr. and Kimberly Ann. On August 3, 1973 she married Ted Tafoya in Torrington, WY and they resided in Bayard with their family. Mary loved to fish, she was known as Ted’s fishing partner. She also enjoyed crocheting, watching sports, playing cards, cooking and baking, especially on the holidays, and spending time with her family. Ted is an accomplished wood carver and she did most of the painting and finish work on the carvings. Mary was really into crafts and loved doing a variety of projects and beadwork. She was a member of the Catholic Church in Bayard. She was a strong woman who never complained about anything and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Mary was loved by many and will be missed by all. Mary is survived by her husband Ted of Bayard, daughter Betty Jean (Wesley) Hatley of Edna, TX; son Windell Reynolds, Jr. (Andrea O’bannon) of Ft. Collins, CO; step-children Dave (Cheri) Tafoya, Frieda Tafoya all of Longview, WA, Mike (Jane) Tafoya of Wasilla, Alaska, Maria (Pete) Kozak of Palmer, Alaska; step-father John Fries Jr.; brothers Ernest (Joyce) Koncaba, Antone (Beth) Koncaba all of Bayard, Charles (Brenda) Koncaba of Hay Springs, NE, Julius (Jeanette) Koncaba of Gering, sister Jackie Smith of Bridgeport, and numerous aunts, uncles, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one daughter precede her in death.
