Nicholas Nick Timothy McMurtry

His memorial graveside service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at High Butte Cemetery, near McGrew, Nebraska with Pastors Paul West and Daniel Zitterkopf officiating.   Because of Nick’s love of science, his body is being donated to Science Care in Aurora, Colorado to benefit research.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bayard Christian Center. 

Nicholas was born on October 20, 1988 to Tim and Judy (Smith) McMurtry in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.   He attended Bayard High School and received his high school diploma from WNCC.  He attended UTI College on a scholarship in Phoenix, AZ. 

Nick worked at various jobs, but was mostly a freelance mechanic.  His love of mechanic work brought him much satisfaction helping a friend anyway he could.

He was a Boy Scout and was in FFA and 21 Century Singers in High School.  Nick enjoyed  the outdoors, camping, hiking and collecting rocks.  He loved to hang out with friends and was very adventurous.

He attended the Assembly of God Church in Bayard.

Survivors include his mother Judy (Kirt) Deaver; father Tim (Peggy) McMurtry, sister Jennifer McMurtry; two step brothers and two step sisters; grandparents Richard and Phyllis Smith and George and Patricia McMurtry and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
