Roylae was born December 27, 1938 at Alliance, NE to Leslie and Mildred (Hawley) Appleyard. She grew up in Hemingford, graduating from Hemingford High School in 1957. Following high school she moved to Cheyenne, WY where she worked at a bank for many years.
Roylae married Russell Smith in at Scottsbluff, NE where they raised their three children Clorinda, Alan, and Jewel.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dalton. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, crocheting, canning, and taking care of her family.
Roylae is survived by her children Clorinda (Kirk) Wallesen, Alan (Jessica) Smith; and Jewel (James) Blankenship; sister Kay Berryman; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends near and dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, baby brother Leslie Roy, and brothers-in-law Charles “Chuck” Smith and John Berryman.
