Dear Joe, you and your family have been a part of our lives for 42 years. Our jeweler and our friend. We are very heart broken to hear that we have lost a very dear friend someone who was always there to help in anyway he can. We are very sorry for your beautiful wife Gerry whom I know you loved very much as well as your son Andrew, grandsons and your beautiful daughter in law. You were a wonderful guy Joe and will be greatly missed. Sleep tight with the angels our dear friend. We Love you, Donna and Dominick Gangemi and family

Each summer, at Joe and Nina DiCerto's Big Picnic on Long Island, one of the best parts of the day was the arrival of Joe and Gerry Proto with their wonderful son, Andrew. I always knew when Joe had arrived ... all I had to do was follow the laughter.

Joe is the epitome of a wonderful, loving husband and father. And while his body has failed him, the one thing that will live forever is his love for Gerry and Andrew and his family. Love NEVER dies.

ALL the Protos remain in my prayers .... now and always. A Mass card will follow.

With love now and always to you all ..., Mary Hughes, Forest Hills.

Joe, you will be missed. Rest in Peace my friend. I met you when I started to work for my parents in the jewelry district on Canal Street in Manhattan. What a great guy.

Love Patricia
