Bronx resident Robert W. Callow, 82, died January 20th, 2015.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Francis Xavier Church, 10:00am on Saturday 1/24/2015. Viewing will precede the mass at the John Dormi and Sons Funeral Home from 8:15am to 9:45am.
Mr. Callow was born October 5, 1932, in New York City to the late Jack and Rose Callow.
A career salesman, Bob was the epitome of the genial gentleman, charming, outgoing, and always ready with a compliment or a story about his beloved Bronx neighborhood.
He was especially close to his older sister June M. Clark, who died in New Jersey in 1999, and her three children, Kevin, Glenn, and Brian. He was also devoted to June’s sister-in-law, Mary Higgins Clark, the suspense writer who grew up only a couple of blocks away from him.
A devout Catholic, Bob lived nearly his entire life in the home in which he was born. He considered family, the church, and the Bronx to be the three pillars of his life. He would joke that, when his sister moved across the Hudson River with her husband Allan Clark, she’d left for the provinces.
Bob is survived by his nephews Kevin and Glenn Clark and their spouses and children, and Brian Clark; by the extended Clark family; by his cousins Toni Callow Fontana and Leslie Stone and their families; and by dear friends Betty Murphy and her family, and John Kuykendall and Charles Hudman.
Immediately following the mass, the internment will be at Gate of Heaven cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
