Born on October 26, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gail lived a life defined by her devotion to family, enduring friendships, and a spirit that touched those who knew her.
Gail is survived by her children, Merritt Lyon and Kelly Matson, and by her beloved granddaughter, Ava Matson, whom she adored and cherished beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Matson, Marilyn Karczewski, and Ted Karczewski, as well as her sister, Dawn Matson.
Gail retired from We Energies, where she built many treasured lifelong friendships. She will be remembered for her resilience, and the connections she formed throughout her life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her dear friends Jane, Yari, and Etta for the love, friendship, and unwavering support they provided during Gail's final years. Special thanks are also extended to the compassionate nurses and caregivers at CareAge of Brookfield for the care and kindness they showed Gail in her final year.
Among Gail's greatest accomplishments was the love and devotion she gave to her family. Her strength, generosity, and steadfast support will remain a lasting source of inspiration to those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
She she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A service will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park (13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI, 53005) on Tuesday, September 22. Visitation from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., Service at 11:00 a.m., Burial at 11:45 a.m.
