It is with great sadness that we announce our mother, Margaret Mae Pamenter, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following a valiant fight against Alzheimer’s disease. To the end, Maggie brought joy and kindness to all she met and lived with profound grace.
Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on June 25, 1946, Maggie attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School. She then studied at Marian College (now known as Marian University) in Fond du Lac, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree on May 17, 1969, having majored in English and minored in psychology.
Maggie was a lifelong swimmer and for a long time swam a mile each day. Her passion for swimming and teaching led to her serving as a swim instructor for countless children at the West Suburban YMCA in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, where she was employed for over 25 years. She was also a dedicated volunteer, most notably with Women for MACC that supported the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund. Among other roles, she held the position of treasurer and helped organize numerous events with a team of amazing women.
In addition, Maggie enjoyed walking, biking and visiting with family and lifelong friends; watching the Olympics, as well as college football and basketball games, especially the Wisconsin Badgers; picking up shells and sand dollars at the beach; and sending beautifully-written Christmas and birthday cards and thank you notes.
First and foremost, though, Maggie was a dedicated Mom -- she celebrated her children’s milestones; cheered at their activities; enjoyed traveling adventures, particularly to Walt Disney World and “up north”; took meticulous care of their childhood home; cooked wonderful meals and desserts (especially her lasagna, au gratin potatoes, and chocolate chip cookies); ensured holidays (particularly, St. Nick’s and Christmas) and birthdays were special celebrations; and provided constant love, support and guidance to them. In addition, in 2004, she excitedly became “Nana Maggie” with the birth of her granddaughter followed three years later by the birth of her grandson. She made numerous visits to Colorado (and Texas for a bit) and ultimately lived nearby in Parker, Colorado, as she cherished her time with them.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Mark) and Christopher (Amy); her grandchildren, Lauren and Colton; her brother, Raymond (Kathy); and her sister, Betty (Keith). She is preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Raymond; her sister, Donna, and brother-in-law, Joel; and her sister, Virginia, and brother-in-law, Edward.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning in the Main Building at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Maggie to the West Suburban YMCA supporting swim and water safety lessons by utilizing the online link: bit.ly/pamenter or mailing the donation to: YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, c/o Katrina Weinberg - Pamenter Memorial, 3610 Michelle Witmer Memorial Drive, Suite 100, New Berlin, WI 53151. Maggie’s children wish to thank the staff at Morningstar of Parker and the hospice team at Peaceful Journey who took such great care of their Mom. As we and they can attest, heaven is filled with the joyful sounds of Mom singing and has gained the best landscaper. She is greatly missed.
