Rachel Joy Bergholz of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. Rachel struggled with lifelong complications associated with juvenile Type I diabetes.
Rachel was born on May 20th, 1977, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the 'second born' daughter to Peggy L. Miller and Richard J. Bergholz. Rachel is eternally linked to her identical 'mirror-image' twin sister, Amylia Bergholz Yeaman, who was born eleven minutes before Rachel. Rachel and Amylia developed a lifelong 'twinship-kinship' that was omnipresent and enduring.
Rachel spent her early years living in Wauwatosa, before her family moved to Green Bay where she would graduate from (East) High School. In Wauwatosa and Green Bay, Rachel developed an incredible group of lifelong friends that were drawn to her natural charisma and quick wit. Always one for an adventure, Rachel spent time hiking, going to music concerts, skydiving and completed marathons.
Rachel studied Art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design). During her college years, she developed her passion for photography. A talented and gifted artist herself, Rachel worked as freelance photographer and would go on to have her pieces featured in art galleries.
Rachel cherished her (3) beautiful children that provided her with matchless joy and love. Rachel embraced being a matriarch of a 'military family' during her children's early formative years. Her family lived in several different cities, but she would always call Milwaukee home.
Rachel is survived by her three children, Maxwell R. Gagliano, Elliott A. Gagliano and Annabelle J. Gagliano of Alabama, her parents, Mother, Peggy L. Miller of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Father, Richard J. Bergholz of Waukesha, Wisconsin and brother, Andrew (Megan) Bergholz, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Godmother to Piper Joy Yeaman of Iowa City, Iowa and Peyton Krebs of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Amylia Bergholz Yeaman, who passed away a mere 17 days before Rachel.
A celebration of life for both Rachel's and Amylia's close family and friends will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at a later date.
