Whoops!  I didn't graduate in 1978 rather it was 1983.  I always had trouble with math and now it is documented forever!

Sr. Jean Raymond was an institution at Mount Mary.  As my teacher in the early 70's and mentor throughout my career, she was always there and always proud of "her girls."  She will be missed.

Sister Jean Raymond was my academic advisor and
reading methods teacher, and she was such a dynamic
instructor.   She challenged and supported me in my
dreams of being an elementary teacher.      Years later, I saw Sister again at Mount Mary when I took my oldest 2 children to a summer art class.    Sister Jean Raymond was delighted to meet my four children and gave me some kindergarten materials the college no longer needed for me to use with my children.  She was generous and kind.

The family of Sister Jean Raymond

Sister Jean Raymond is the most important person in my life.  I attended Mount Mary College from 1978-1983 majoring in Early Childhood Education. Since graduating, I've had the opportunity to see and correspond with her as my life as a young woman unfolded.  On December 28, 1991, she attended my wedding.  She gave us a crucifix for our home.  Every once in a while, I page through the many lesson plans I wrote for my student teaching placements.  On every lesson, Sister Jean Raymond wrote a beautifully written comment to me!  I was planning on making copies of the lessons with her comments on them and sending them to her with a note.  Now, at 53, and 30 years after graduation from Mount Mary College, I still think of and pray for Sister each day.  This morning, my husband called me at work, about 7:15am, to share her passing with me.  With each word he read, I laughed, cried, and gave thanks for her.  My life would have been so different had I not attended Mount Mary College or had the opportunity to learn from Sister Jean Raymond.  While I will miss her, her words will resonate in my mind and heart.  God Bless Your Work on Earth for the Glory of God!

I knew Sr. Jean Raymond well.  I am saddened to hear this.  She, the family, and the SSNDs will be in my prayers.

Typically, the women of the wonderful sisterhood who placed this notice of our Aunt Marjie's passing, her other family, did not credit themselves for the love and care that they gave to her, especially in recent years.  So, on behalf of her first family, her dozens of nieces and nephews -- and on behalf of our parents, her many siblings all gone before her -- we extend our appreciation to the community of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and our condolences for their loss, as well as ours.

It is a happy memory to have known her  while enlisting her assistance for my tutoring program.  
She was a Notre Dame treasure.

Sr. Jean Raymond's smile and joy for life were infectious.  As a former Mount Mary staff person, I remember her fondly.

Aunt Margie will be missed.   Although not really my Aunt,  I considered her as such.   I enjoyed knowing her and the many visits we had.   She was truly a wonderful person and I am glad to have great memories of our time together.

I am a Mount Mary graduate and Sister Jean Raymond made a huge impact on my teaching.  I still remember my penmanship class and how she could write perfectly straight on the chalkboard.  She  was a remarkable teacher  and will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was a student at Mount Mary and some of my fondest memories of her were when she would stop in the halls and chat with me and share a smile. She will truly be missed but will be so loved in heaven.
