Steven J. Klaviter, age 67, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, surrounded by love after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born on January 28, 1959, in Milwaukee to Eugene and Helen (Degenhardt) Klaviter.
On October 25, 1986, he wed the love of his life, Kathleen (Gellendin) Klaviter. They met while he was working as a school janitor, and Steven’s life was forever brightened when he became a father to his only daughter, Amy, whom he loved fiercely.
A hardworking man dedicated to service, Steven spent his career with Ernie von Schledorn, Medical Associates, Goodwill, the Salvation Army, and Saint Vincent de Paul.
Outside of work, he loved staying busy with his hands. He was a talented handyman who took great pride in home renovations, embroidery, and working on his Chevy Malibu. He also spent countless hours creating intricate dioramas for his prized Harry Potter train set.
A man of faith, Steven attended St. Mary’s Church and later Eagle’s Nest Church.
Above all, Steven cherished his family. He gave his daughter the world, loved picking on his wife, and brought joy to everyone around him with his classic "dumb jokes" and his beloved tradition of baking and sharing Christmas cookies with everyone.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Amy (Marco); his dear sister-in-law, Mary (Donald) and beloved neighbor, Kim (John), both of whom brought him immense comfort, help, and support; his sister, Theresa (Kevin), who was steadfast in her love and presence throughout his life; his siblings, Judith (Bob), Kathleen (Craig), and Timothy; his nieces, Alicia (Nick) and Jessica; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Helen Klaviter; his uncles, Albert (Bonnie), James (Sally); William and Raymond; and aunts Joan, Mabel, and Loretta.
Services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Froedtert Hospital for their compassionate care.
